Blessed.

holding-hands

Caleb and I (and the rest of his family) have been so overwhelmed by your thoughts, prayers, and words of encouragement...they have carried us through this difficult time and will continue to be a source of strength for us. Thank you, thank you for remembering us. We have truly been able to witness the body of Christ wrap its caring arms around us...whether it be a phone call, tears, a card, a meal, a plant, a Scripture verse, or a flight from Morocco...we have been reminded of the importance of relationships, friendships and how we were never meant to walk through life alone. Thank you for loving us and for grieving with us.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-4

There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under heaven:

a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,

a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,

a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance...

Pray with us.

_MG_7388

All I can say is pray with us...Caleb's father, Chip, suddenly passed away Wednesday evening. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. We are all just in survival mode right now. Please pray for Kathy, Shane, John, Caleb, & Carrie. Pray that we would continue to know and experience the love of God in this time of loss...and that the Holy Spirit would enable us to walk by faith, not sight.

2 Corinthians 5:1-9

Now we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands. Meanwhile we groan, longing to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling, because when we are clothed, we will not be found naked. For while we are in this tent, we groan and are burdened, because we do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. Now it is God who has made us for this very purpose and has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord. We live by faith, not by sight. We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord. So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it.

You say good bye. I say hello.

Today we said goodbye to my little Ella, Beckett, Diana, & Scott...off they go to Morocco. It's almost like when my best friend from when I was eight years old (Ashleigh Garcia) moved to Kansas. It was so traumatic and I just remember my heart hurting constantly and not understanding why they had to leave...it's funny that not much has changed and I am an adult. Nonetheless, we are so excited for what lies ahead for the Douglass fam (although I did teach Ella that her last name was Carruth-Douglass), we are so sad for us and losing our close family. But, what a blessing that we love them so much and will miss them so much. Here are some of the airport photos before we gave hugs & kisses to last a year. So for Ella- it is goodbye Aina...Hello Morocco.

Circus. Circus.

We had a blast taking Ella to the circus today... one of our last special things to do with her before they go to Morocco for a year on Monday (8/11/08). We lived it up with hot dogs, popcorn, cotton candy, and a glowing wand that changed colors and played music. Doesn't get better than that! Charlotte loved it too!

Dumbo was Ella's favorite. She cried each time one of the animals left the arena. I had to assure her that there were more that would come out.
